April 2012

SuperMoon - Astrology Forecast for Mon., April 30th - Sun., May 6th 2012

Please note that all times given below are Eastern Daylight Savings Time -- five hours behind Greenwich Mean Time.

This past week had its challenges, but I would also say in hindsight that there was a lot of healing and dissolving of old patterns going on. Being compassionate with myself really came in handy. Sometimes that's the best we can do for ourselves.

The main thing this week is the upcoming Full Moon in Scorpio (Sat. at 11:35pm EDT) -- this is also a "SuperMoon" (closer to the Earth) and thus more intense in its energy. Feel free to watch my video on the subject (will be posted on or before Thursday).

Monday starts with a Moon void of course (VoC) -- from 10:17am until 7:02pm EDT -- so take it easy and go with the flow. The Moon moves into detail-oriented, well-organized Virgo at 7:02pm EDT, moving towards an alignment with Mars.

Mars is making a challenging aspect to the Moon's Nodes, exact at 7:30pm. This aspect asks of us to stretch ourselves a little, maybe even be uncomfortable for a while -- all so we can find a balance between "what's what" in our immediate environment and the bigger picture behind it all. Being able to understand motivations (both our own and those of others) is going to be valuable to us at this time. We can feel this aspect until Friday.

On Tuesday, the Moon is still in Virgo all day, bringing our focus towards practical activities. We might easily find ourselves re-organizing and rethinking plans. Emotional satisfaction comes from solving problems, making order out of confusion, and helping others. Health matters might come into focus. We notice the smaller parts that make up the whole. This is a great time to look at our daily routines (eating, work, self-care, etc.) and see if they are in alignment with our personal goals.

At 6:58am EDT on Wednesday we enter another Moon void of course (VoC); this one lasts 15 hours, until 10:04pm EDT. This gives us a chance to process all the adjustments we have made in the past two days. As best as you can, use this time to nurture yourself and your relationships, be of service rather than making harsh judgments. Your mind is a powerful tool, use it wisely ;-)

A Mercury/Venus aspect on Thursday, exact at 11:01pm EDT, gives us an opportunity to connect to others, share our goals and chat up a storm while getting things done.

On Thursday and Friday, the Moon is in Libra all day. This brings up a need for pleasing interactions with others and for pleasing aesthetics in our environment. We tend to solve problems through diplomacy, and we are more able to put aside our own emotions in order to achieve the peace we crave. The flip side of this is a tendency to avoid direct confrontations. We see both sides to any given situation, so decisions do not come easily.  Fear of losing others' approval is another potential source of hesitation. As best as you can, find your inner balance with things -- and communicate what needs to be said with grace and charm.

Friday afternoon at 2:02pm EDT we are entering another Moon void of course (VoC), this lasts 8 hours, until 10:20pm EDT. This is a chance to get clear about our commitments and responsibilities. As best as you can, use this time to nurture your personal and business relationships; however, whenever possible, wait until VoC phases end, before you make new plans and appointments. Don't let the reality of life weigh you down; rather, see how you can handle things in a mature and adult way.

Also on Friday (at 10:20pm EDT),  the Moon moves into passionate Scorpio. This starts the energy of tomorrow's Full Moon -- and intensity is what the Moon in Scorpio is all about. Emotions are felt on a deeply personal level. We are motivated by the desire to get to the bottom of things, and we instinctively read between the lines. Superficiality won't work for us now. The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power, and it's an excellent time to rid ourselves of old fears and limiting habits. It can be an intimate and passionate time. As best as you can, avoid manipulative tactics, brooding, and suspicion.

On Saturday at 11:36pm EDT, the Full Moon will be exact. This Full Moon in Scorpio is also a "SuperMoon" -- it is closer to the Earth than normal -- and as such, is more intense in its energy than the usual Full Moon. We are looking for balance and are more aware than ever that something needs to be brought into alignment. This needs to happen so we can feel empowered from within, rather than feeling powerful over others. We are birthing a new paradigm based on "the power of love" vs. "the love of power". Feel free to watch my video on the subject (will be posted on or before Thursday) -- and remember that "self-love" is one way to love :-)

A Mercury/Saturn aspect at 9:07pm EDT might bring some misunderstandings or feelings of restriction. As best as you can, make the necessary adjustments so you can speak from a grounded, truthful place -- while remaining committed to what others expect of you.

On Sunday at 8:15am EDT we are entering yet another Moon void of course (VoC) -- until 9:39pm EDT. What did you learn during the time of the Full Moon? Where do you need to make changes? Use this time to have some fun and expand your horizons.

Have a fantastic week.
Many blessings,
Sonja

Communicate More Powerfully - Astrology Forecast for Mon., April 23rd - Sun., April 29th, 2012

Please note that all times given below are Eastern Daylight Savings Time -- five hours behind Greenwich Mean Time.

For me, this past week was all about finishing things up, letting go of my fears and letting other people contribute to me. It was actually quite beautiful to see what loving and nurturing people I have in my life. I felt much more present -- and open to being pampered :-)

The two most important astrological events this week both involve Mercury -- it leaves it's retrograde shadow on Monday, and makes a challenging aspect to Pluto on Wednesday. The latter invites us to grow and stretch ourselves, to communicate more powerfully.

Monday morning starts with a Moon void of course (VoC) -- until 1:05pm EDT -- so take it easy and go with the flow. The Moon then moves into Gemini, speeding things up a little and keeping us busy.

Mercury (the planet of communication) leaves it's retrograde shadow today, so we are fully able to engage in new conversations. We have been processing things for the past two months; we can now leave that behind. To read more about Mercury's shadow phase, click here.

Monday evening, the Sun makes a supportive aspect to Mars, exact at 8:59pm EDT; we will feel the energy of this aspect until about Thursday. This gives us a beautiful opportunity to make solid plans for our future -- to get really clear about which goals we want to pursue and get connected to what's important to us. It's also a wonderful time to connect to nature and your body, perhaps by taking walks, hikes, strolls, doing yoga in the park, etc.

On Tuesday, the Moon is still in Gemini all day; this keeps us social and busy. This could be via email and phone conversations, or directly with people in our immediate environment.

Wednesday morning, Mercury makes a challenging aspect to Pluto, exact at 10:51am EDT. This transit's energy will be most powerful from Monday until Friday of this week; it asks us to think more deeply and make space for meaningful thoughts or interactions. The tendency here might be to obsess about something. This could be a recurring thought that we can't seem to let go of, or perhaps a conversation that turns into a power struggle, because we are not willing to let go of our ideas or opinions. As best as you can, keep an open mind, let yourself relax into any obsessions or fixed ideas. Ask yourself: "How important is it?" Could you grant others the right to think differently?

At 4:31pm EDT on Wednesday we enter another Moon void of course (VoC), this lasts nine hours, until 1:42am EDTon Thursday morning. This gives us a chance to process all the connections and mental intake from the past two days. Use this time to nurture your personal and business relationships; however, whenever possible, wait until VoC phases end, before making new plans and appointments.

The Moon is in Cancer all day Thursday and Friday;  we will likely feel more sensitive and self-protective during this time. As best as you can, be gentle with yourself and others. Nurture your emotional and physical needs. Safety is quite important to us at this time; if fear comes up, simply allow it and observe it. Ask yourself: is this fear connected to my past or my future? Is is actually here, right now? If you notice that the fear you experience is connected to a memory, or is a projection into the future, ask yourself: Could I simply set it free, just for right now?

Saturday starts off with a Moon void of course (VoC)  this lasts until 12:10pm EDT. Another 9-hour Moon VoC phase, that gives us the opportunity to process any emotional or internal experiences from the past 2 days. We are also being asked to come out of our shell a little and get focused on our commitments. The Moon moves into playful Leo at 12:10pm EDT, bringing a more joyful, heart-centered experience to the next couple of days.

Also on Saturday, the Sun aligns with Chiron, exact at 1:52pm EDT. This gives us the opportunity to heal our insecurities or feelings of shame. This can come through bringing conscious awareness to these areas; getting centered and connected to the physical plane will also help here. As best as you can, get grounded, stay connected to the Earth and your body. If waves of feeling come up, let them -- simply observe the wave. Notice: are you are the wave -- or are you the ocean, in which the wave is just a small part of the whole? Allow the waves to come to the shore and return back to the ocean once again.

Back on April 21st, the New Moon may well have been a time when many things were conceived; on Sunday at 5:57am EDT, the first Quarter Moon asks us to make some adjustments to all of that. This is an energizing time, as we need to stretch ourselves and expand our consciousness.

A supportive Sun/Pluto aspect, exact on Sunday at 5:34pm EDT, brings an intensity and a depth to our conscious awareness; this transit's energy will be most powerful between this Thursday, and Wednesday of next week (May 2nd). This is a time to transform our lives, stripping away ideas, beliefs -- and maybe even people -- that no longer connect with who we are now. Ask yourself: What needs to change, so that I may live more authentically?

Have a wonderful week.
Many blessings,
Sonja

The Physical Plane - New Moon in Taurus

The Physical Plane - New Moon in Taurus
Join me as I share about the upcoming New Moon in 1 degrees of Taurus (April 21st at 3:20am EDT) and about setting intentions for the new Moon cycle.

What do you value most?
What is your physical environment reflecting back to you?
What if you deserved all the things you want to attract into your life?

What is your highest value? - Astrology Forecast for Mon., April 16th - Sun., April 22nd, 2012

Please note that all times given below are Eastern Daylight Savings Time -- four hours behind Universal Time (GMT).

This past week for me was a lesson in trusting the universal timing of things. There is simply no use in rushing things. If the timing is not right, it's just not right, no matter how much you want it to be so. Resisting what is can be exhausting. I always say, my cats have the right idea: they are present in each moment, sleep, play, eat well, get lots of love and they bask in the sun when possible.

The two main things for this week: Mercury will move back into Aries, bringing excitement and newness to our thoughts :-) and the Sun will move into Taurus, which will bring about a new Moon phase at the end of this week. As we are starting the last Moon phase, we are being asked to finish things up that were started around the time of the last New Moon (March 22nd)

Monday morning starts with Moon in Pisces, giving us a chance to start the week with compassion and consideration, towards ourselves and others.

Uranus makes a harmonious aspect to the Moon's North Node, exact at 12:56pm EDT. We will feel this aspect for the rest of April. This might bring wonderful insights into our life-paths right now. How can we see the bigger picture? Where do we need to step up the adventure-factor?

Also on Monday (at 6:42pm EDT), Mercury, the planet of communication, moves from Pisces into Aries again, where it will journey until May 9th; this is quite a shift: from the unconscious, imaginative and intuitive, we are now moving into a more conscious approach to our day-to-day life. We can choose more powerfully and move towards our goals in a more linear fashion. With Mars having gone direct again as well, we will be able to make some progress -- and this feels really good for a change.

On Tuesday we will experience a 25-hour Moon void of course (VoC)
-- from 10:34am - 11:58am EDT on Wednesday. As best as you can, take it easy during that time, go with the flow, do routine things.

On Wednesday, the Moon moves into speedy Aries at 11:58am EDT, where it will remain until Friday night.

Wednesday will also start the last phase of the Moon, before the next New Moon. This means we are getting to wrap things up at full speed, that were started around the time of the last New Moon (March 22nd).

Thursday the Sun changes signs again, this time from adventurous, speedy Aries to peaceful, steady Taurus. It will journey there until May 20th. The Sun in Taurus reminds us to slow down and smell the roses. We are able to be very consistent and methodical, which helps us bring groundedness and reality to our new goals. We focus on what is most important to us. What do you value most? How do you feel about yourself and what you bring to the table?

Friday, another Moon void of course (VoC) -- from 3:34pm - Midnight EDT, gives us a chance to relax and take it easy. Make sure you don't feel guilty or bad about relaxing during that time; rather, see if you can bring a sense of adventure to the things that nurture you and your relationships.

As we are right before the phase of the New Moon, we might feel anxious or nervous. This time is best used by going within and letting go of all the things that no longer serve us.

Saturday starts with the New Moon, bright and early, at 3:18am EDT
All day Saturday and Sunday before 1:10pm EDT, as best as you can, get really quiet, and see if you are getting any new messages or ideas. Harvest those thoughts and set your intentions for the new Moon cycle.

The New Moon in Taurus is the beginning of a new journey that focuses on enjoying life's simple and physical pleasures -- for example: savoring good food, and enjoying activities that bring us in touch with nature and with our bodies. This is a good cycle during which we can reevaluate our relationship to money and possessions, and to discover what truly makes us happy and fulfilled. What solid and realistic plans could you make for yourself? Click here to watch my video on the New Moon in Taurus for more details (will be posted on or before Thursday)

Also on Saturday, Mercury makes a harmonious aspect to the Moon's North Node, exact at 10:46pm EDT. We will feel this aspect for the next two days. This might bring wonderful opportunities to move towards our life-paths right now. What thoughts and exchanges are you having that open up your horizons?

On Sunday we will experience another long Moon void of course (VoC) -- from 1:10pm - 1:05pm EDT next Monday. This 24-hour Moon VoC gives us the opportunity to fully enjoy life's pleasures, we may even go a little overboard… but so what? Remember that the Moon will be VoC Monday morning (April 23rd), so take it easy and go with the flow.

One last thing: Mercury aligns with Uranus for the third time on Sunday (exact at 4:29pm EDT). Because of Mercury's retrograde motion, it connected to Uranus three times within a six week period. The first time was on March 5th; the second was on March 18th -- during its retrograde motion. This time around, Mercury is direct again; so what we experience resonates back to the first two times. We are getting a chance to use what we have learned -- and to apply and refine the thought processes and ideas that came through.

Have a wonderful week.
Many blessings,
Sonja

What is a Saturn Return?

A client of mine asked me yesterday:

I have been holding some questions around Saturn Return for a while now and have reached a point where I would like to get some clarity on the subject.  I've heard different things from many people for years now.  More than anyone else, I trust and would love to hear your interpretation. So I am asking if you are willing and able to take the time to enlighten me?

In regards to your question about the Saturn return: Saturn is the energy in us that represents our inner adult, our ability to create structures in our lives, our ability to deal with reality on reality's terms, it is life's teacher.

Living in a physical body in a physical world, we must obey the laws of that world and that reality. This reality comes with limitations and boundaries. Saturn teaches us about those things. For example: being a spirit being in a physical body, you cannot walk through solid objects; you must walk around them, or find an opening to walk through. This means we need to slow down. We might need to take the longer route...Saturn therefore is also about time and maturity, responsibility and commitment.

Saturn has about a 29 year cycle. Every 28-29 years it comes back to the original place in your birth chart. When that happens, we are finishing one cycle of maturity and beginning a new one. We are being asked to start taking life more serious at that point, take more responsibility for our actions, interactions and long-term goals. We are being asks to make bigger commitments.

Depending on where Saturn is in our chart and how it interacts with other planets in our chart, this might affect each of us in a different way.

The place where Saturn lives in your chart shows you, which area of your life is most affected by this transit. The house rules by Capricorn is also going to be affected by this new cycle. If Saturn has more challenging aspects than supporting aspects in your birth chart with other planets, the Saturn Return might require more personal growth and might be more of a life changing experience than if it is the other way around.

If you would like to know more about your personal Saturn Return and how it does affect you, feel free to reach out and schedule a reading with me.

Many blessings,
Sonja
