I
personally believe that 2012 will be an
exciting year for those of us who are up for the challenge. Our biggest enemy
this year will be our own fear of failure or success -- whichever area of life
this is focused on. Rather than dwelling in fear, if we stay present and “in
the now” – if we let ourselves see the excitement that this year brings – a
tremendous amount of personal growth could be possible. The potential here is
for a great many people to grow beyond their old boundaries and step into a new
way of being – far more people than would usually have this opportunity.
2012
starts with the Moon in independent, goal-oriented Aries, bringing a “racing
start” to the Year. Right after midnight on January 1st,
Mercury makes a challenging aspect to Mars (the ruler of Aries). This asks us
to pause and think things through before speaking. This may be a stretch for us
at that point -- or at any point -- so as best as you can, take a deep breath
and count to ten...
Mercury
moves out of its "shadow" on Jan. 1st.
This means that we are starting the year communicating and assessing things with
more ease and clarity. We can now sign contracts, buy technological devices,
cars, and buy and sell in general, without anything holding us back or delaying
the process… that is, until the next Mercury retrograde phase (March 12
- April 4).
The year also starts out with a very happy Jupiter in Taurus,
moving in direct motion again. This brings us hope and inspires us to explore our
values and sense of self-worth. It also brings a sense of abundance and good
fortune to the area of finance and material possessions. It is a time to
actualize in life what we truly value and to understand how we use our own resources.
This is especially true for Sagittarians and Taureans.
Jupiter is advancing and closing in on a supportive aspect to Pluto
in Capricorn, exact in March 2012. At that time Mars will join
this supportive connection, making a grand trine in the element of Earth. This
is a powerful connection that feels very grounding and brings us deeper into
our beliefs and values, empowering us to accomplish more and to reassess what
it means to be of service to the world. We get to see just where we need to spend
our money, how we can balance giving and receiving, and what (and who) gets our
time and consideration. Through investigating our inner and outer wellbeing, we
can arrive at a better understanding of the reality we want to create for
ourselves.
Mars will station -- slow down considerably and come to a halt -- from
Jan. 19 - 27. During that time, we might
feel sluggish or less enthusiastic about our goals -- things might slow down a
little; this will be especially true for Aries and Scorpios (also people with
Ascendants in those signs) and people born at a late degree of Gemini,
Sagittarius, Pisces and Virgo.
Mars will start its 3-month retrograde phase on Jan. 23, 2012; this gives us the opportunity to redo certain
things or reorganize our lives -- especially anything that happened between Nov. 18, 2011 and Jan. 23, 2012.
While Mars is retrograde, we tend to ”hold back” or tread more
carefully, as we reassess what isn’t working in a particular area of our lives.
Progress might seem slow in that area; we are being asked to prepare,
investigate and plan, rather than take impulsive actions. Anger may be
internalized and/or delayed -- we might turn on ourselves during this time. On
the other hand, with the Mars energy turned inwards, inner explorations can
lead to breakthroughs in personal growth. What valuable lessons could a time
like this teach you about yourself, your personal goals and how organized you
are in your life?
On February 4, Neptune will enter Pisces (its
own sign) and stay there until 2025. Neptune is the energy of our intuition,
spiritual connections, creative and imaginative ideas and “higher” love. As
Neptune moves into Pisces, we will feel more drawn to spiritual endeavors or
energy work. Music will play a big part during this time, connecting people all
over the world.
Neptune and Pisces are watery in nature, and therefore we will feel
more sensitive towards our fellow man. We are more able to come from a place of
compassion and understanding; in fact, some of us might feel too much and want
to escape our increased sensitivity through drugs, food, medication, alcohol or
other form of addiction. Some of us are also more easily deceived with this
placement, especially when it comes to idealistic thinking, love and spiritual
practices. Make sure you choose to engage with people who are grounded in their
work or in their lives. Do not believe everything you hear or are told, just
because it’s coming from someone who is calling him- or herself a spiritual
healer. Check in with your own intuition: if you feel joy in your heart, you
are moving towards a higher vibration and something that serves your higher
purpose; if you feel doubt or uneasiness in your heart, you most likely are
moving towards a lower vibration, towards something that doesn’t serve you,
away from your higher purpose.
When Neptune enters Pisces it also joins Chiron, the wounded
healer. This combination could bring up our spiritual or emotional wounds -- and
also the role water plays in our lives. As an aside, I believe that water is
going to be a central story of this year’s global issues. On a more personal
level, we get a chance to work through our emotional insecurities, and heal our
false sense of being separate from everyone else. This is a time for love,
compassion and forgiveness. How can we start being compassionate with ourselves,
even if we start small? Is there anything you need to forgive yourself for? Before
all the conditioning and programming, you were pure love. This part of you
never left. You still are that. Could you allow yourself to uncover that?
On Feb. 6, Saturn starts its
retrograde cycle once again, this cycle lasts until June 24. This
holds it in Libra for a while longer, asking us to grow up and see the reality
of our relationships. We are getting another chance to restructure and re-plan
our long-term future goals within our one-on-one relationships (both personal
and business). We need to go inwards and tap into our own sense of commitment
and willingness to be responsible. This retrograde cycle will especially affect
people born at a late degree of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn (including
people with Ascendants in those signs).
On Oct. 5,
2012, Saturn will finally leave relationship-oriented Libra and move
into passionate, intensity-seeking Scorpio, where it will remain until Sept.
2015. The last time Saturn entered Scorpio was in December of 1982. If you were
already an adult at that time, think back. What responsibilities or commitments
did you make at that time? Saturn in Scorpio is reminding us to have a mature
approach when it comes to other people’s values and resources. If we are not
able to be responsible within our intimate relationships, they will get quite
intense. Scorpio does not like to be controlled. Restraint is something that
can only last so long, when it comes to the Scorpio energy; eventually whatever
is suppressed will burst to the surface. Our perception of reality at this time
is quite different. Make sure to take that into consideration before making any
long-term plans. This placement will affect Scorpios and Capricorns the most
(including people with Ascendants in those signs).
On May 16, Venus starts its retrograde
cycle; this will last until June 28 – though we will feel the
effects of this cycle from April 3
until August 7. This happens in the sign of Gemini, affecting how we communicate
with others; there is an affinity toward sharing our thoughts and opinions
concerning whatever is most important to us. During the Venus retrograde phase,
we become clearer about our values and priorities.
This is a time that is best used for deciding what we want to keep
and what we want to clear out of our lives; whether that is a relationship or
some material possession. Either way, it’s time to get rid of anything that no
longer resonate with us. This can also be a time when people from our past come
back into our lives; this gives us a chance to revisit past relationships that
might need closure or resolution in some way – that could include a rekindling
of some kind.
In regards to finances, the Venus retrograde cycle invites us to
reconsider how we spend and invest our money. It is not the best time for big
ticket purchases or completely new investments. This retrograde cycle will
especially affect Taureans and Libras (including people with Ascendants in
those signs); also people born at a late degree of Gemini, Sagittarius, Pisces
and Virgo.
On June 12, Jupiter leaves peaceful,
steady Taurus and moves into versatile, fast-thinking Gemini for the rest of
the year. This brings expansive and buoyant energy to our communications and
sense of sharing. Learning about new things, and talking or writing about them,
is going to be big. Short trips and vacations are going to be favored during
this time. We have a tendency to get carried away with speaking rather than
listening. Remember: talk is cheap. Could you hold out for wisdom?
Pluto and Uranus are continuing their challenging dance with each
other until 2015, making an exact aspect June
24 and Sept. 19, 2012. Because both of these
planets are quite slow moving, we will be feeling the intensity of this aspect from
April until the end of the year. Two powerful planets that initiate change,
transformation and revolution are in conflict with each other:
Freedom loving, progress-oriented Uranus and deeply passionate,
powerful Pluto are at odds with each other. Uranus asks us to break away from
the old, the norm, and what no longer works; to go after our personal goals
without consideration of what others think of us. Uranus in Aries also
represents rebellious youth. Pluto asks us to empower others and ourselves
through commitment and integrity to our long-term goals and how we want to be
seen in the world. Pluto in Capricorn also represents large, bureaucratical
organizations and the power they hold over others. As you can probably see,
these two energies are moving in very different directions, with very different
motivations. We will see this dynamic acted out on a global level between
governments, corporations and alternative organizations or youth groups.
On a more personal level, we will all experience this “tug-of-war”
within our own lives. Two different areas of our lives will be affected; these
areas depend on your personal chart. This is a call to stretch and grow beyond
what we have known ourselves to be. This might be an uncomfortable, stressful
time, but it is also the most exciting time of our lives -- and of the history
of this planet.
Wishing all of you a wonderful 2012!
Many blessings,
Sonja
